Just Between Us

A short, plain-language privacy note. No dark patterns, no surprise tracking — just what gets collected, why, and what your choices are.

The Short Version

YMeJourney is a personal blog, not a data business. Nothing here is sold, rented, or traded. The minimum amount of information needed to keep the site working and to let readers comment or subscribe is collected — and that’s it.

What Gets Collected

When you visit, the hosting provider records a small amount of standard server log data: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. This is used to keep the site running, troubleshoot problems, and prevent abuse — not to build a profile of you.

If you choose to leave a comment, you may provide a name and email address. The email is used only to notify you of replies (if you opt in) and is never displayed publicly. If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email is stored solely so future letters can reach you, and you can unsubscribe with one click from any email.

Cookies & Local Storage

The site uses a small number of cookies and browser-local storage entries to remember your preferences (such as which tag filter is active or whether you’ve dismissed a banner) and to keep you signed in if you create an account. No advertising or cross-site-tracking cookies are set.

Analytics

Aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics may be used to count visits and see which posts resonate. Where possible, these are configured to anonymize IP addresses, store no personal identifiers, and avoid third-party tracking. If a tool like this changes, this page is updated to reflect it.

Things That Live Outside the Site

A few outside services help the site run: Google Fonts (typography), Unsplash (some imagery), and the hosting provider that serves the pages. They have their own privacy policies, and visiting this site may share standard request data with them. The site does not knowingly send any personal information to them beyond what your browser sends automatically when fetching a resource.

Children

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and no information is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a minor has submitted information here, please get in touch and it will be deleted.

Your Choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete any information about you held by this site (such as a stored newsletter email or a comment you no longer want public). Just send a message via the Contact Me page and the request will be honored, usually within a couple of weeks. You may also clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser’s settings.

How Long Things Are Kept

Comments stay attached to their posts so the conversation makes sense over time. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Server log data is rotated within a reasonable window (typically a few weeks) and is not used for profiling.

Changes to This Policy

As tools and habits change, this page may be updated. The “last updated” stamp at the top reflects the most recent revision. For any significant change — like adding a new analytics tool — a clear note will go up here.

Questions?
